Primary outcome
Associations between the A-D phenotype and impulsivity, empathy and paranoia
levels. Interactions between variation in specific gene-families and
environmental factors explain variation in impulsivity, empathy and paranoia.
Secondary outcome

Background summary
There is an observable increase in the prevalence of aggressive behavior in
Dutch youth. Considering the scientific consensus that for all human behavior,
the phenotype is the expression of an interaction between genes and
environmental exposure, we hypothesize that also the expression of the
aggressive-delinquent phenotype is the result of gene-environment interactions.
Research demonstrated that the personality of perpetrators is characterised by
increased impulsivity, decreased empathy and heigthened paranoid
thoughts, besides a arrogant and manipulative interpersonal style. This study
will investigate impulsivity, emapthy and paranoia as candidate intermediate
phenotype.

Intervention
The study wants to introduce an intervention, based on the original Goal
Management Training (GMT). The GMT is a structured, interactive protocol based
an a manual. The rationale behind the GMT is comparable to the one of the
Stop-Think-Act program, which is already frequently successfully implemented
and results into a broader scale of (social) abilities, among which the ability
to verbalize own feelings and the feelings of others (stronger empathic
capacity) and thinking before acting (lower impulsivity). The GMT already
demonstrated its effectiveness in populations that, like the population with
the A-D phenotype, characterized by a problematic disorganization in daily
life. The aim of the GMT is to improve the executive functioning and increase
self-regulation of behavior.
